Empty shops in Blackburn town centre are being transformed into unlikely venues for an international art trail called Kaart. Blackburn college students, Sophie Skellern and Jessye Curtis supported by Blackburn with Darwen Council are organising an exhibition in the town called Kaart, the Afrikaans word for map. It features the work of Blackburn College Students alongside artwork by graduates of Cape Town University, CPUT. The project, the latest in a series of initiatives being backed by the Council to reuse empty properties, is funded by the ‘O2 Think Big‘ scheme.
Kaart runs from March 1-29, visit the blog at www.kaart2013.tumblr.com or for more information contact Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery on (01254) 667130.
